About the Job:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Purchasing Manager to join our team in Lower Parel, Mumbai.
This role will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials and services, supporting our company's operational needs.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of procurement processes, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Location: Lower Parel, Mumbai
Experience: Up to 5 years in procurement or purchasing roles.
Education: MBA preferred, Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field required.
Job Responsibilities :
Strategic Procurement & Planning :
- Assist in the planning, sourcing, and procuring of direct and indirect materials or products required by the company.
- Conduct regular market research to identify new suppliers, pricing trends, and alternative materials.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of diversified vendors.
- Identify areas for process improvement and suggest cost-effective solutions.
Supplier Management & Negotiation:
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for goods and services.
- Conduct thorough vendor assessments and due diligence.
- Perform accurate calculations for quantities, costs, and budgets.
- Conduct price negotiations with vendors to secure the best terms and conditions, including favorable credit terms and delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and timely deliveries.
- Monitor vendor performance and address issues like delays, defects, or noncompliance.
Operational Procurement & Compliance:
- Ensure procurement aligns with budgetary constraints and achieve cost savings wherever possible.
- Handle procurement for both direct and indirect requirements.
- Track and document all purchase orders and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Ensure clear, professional communication for purchase orders, agreements, and follow-ups.
- Coordinate with internal teams, such as operations and finance, to streamline procurement processes.
- Manage relationships with team members and stakeholders to resolve challenges efficiently.
- Handle procurement-related challenges like delivery delays or budget constraints with a proactive approach.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal teams, even with average English proficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:
Education: MBA preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles.
Technical Skills:
- Strong mathematical and calculation abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems is an added advantage.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Strong interpersonal and people-handling capabilities.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
