About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Legal & Compliance Manager for FRL's South region operations. The role demands strong expertise in handling legal challenges related to leasing, retail compliance, litigation, and employee value violations. As FRL continues to expand, this role will require navigating the complex legal landscape across different states, managing diverse regional teams, and meeting steep timelines.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Leasing & Litigation Management:


- Ensure seamless synergy between leasing and litigation processes for PT and MFL businesses.

- Resolve escalated issues from the legal due diligence process of properties being considered for lease.

- Oversee lease registration processes to mitigate legal risks, particularly the risk of eviction in cases of non-registration. Collaborate with regional counsel to drive registration rates, especially in complex revenue-sharing lease models.

2. Legal Compliance & Risk Mitigation:

- Address regional violations related to legal and compliance issues. Provide timely legal support in filing police complaints and managing case resolutions.

- Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to strategize legal actions for ongoing litigation cases, ensuring protection from financial liabilities and reputational risks.

- Support Retail HR by advising on the process for disciplinary inquiries and handling employee value violations.

3. Collaboration & External Counsel Coordination:

- Work closely with external legal counsel to resolve employee value violation cases.

- Coordinate with internal departments such as Finance, Brand Operations, and RBD to ensure legal support through training programs, legal portals, and leasing dashboards.

4. Operational & Strategic Challenges:

- Coordinate legal operations across regional teams to ensure timely and accurate support, addressing legal complexities in leasing, compliance, and litigation.

- Drive successful lease registration, overcoming resistance from landlords and malls that prefer to partner with FRL rather than act solely as landlords, including handling complex variable commission models.


Skills & Competencies:


- In-depth knowledge of leasing laws, retail compliance regulations, and litigation management.

- Strong communication and coordination skills to manage both internal and external teams.

- Ability to manage high-pressure situations, meeting deadlines while minimizing risks and legal challenges.

- Experience in handling complex negotiations, especially in revenue-sharing lease models.

- Familiarity with legal compliance and value violation cases, including handling police complaints and disciplinary inquiries.


Additional Requirements:


- Ability to travel across the South region as required.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with senior management, external counsel, and cross-functional teams.

- Experience in training and creating awareness programs related to legal matters.
