Position Title: Buyer

Department: Supply Chain

Location: Nagpur

Reports To: Division Procurement & Sourcing Manager

Summary: The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, parts, and supplies as required by the manufacturing department. This role ensures that all procurements are of the best quality, at the most cost-effective price, and delivered in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

1. Degree in engineering.

2. Minimum of 5 experience in a buying or procurement role, preferably in the manufacturing sector.

3. Strong negotiation skills.

4. Proficient in procurement software and tools.

5. Ability to analyze data and generate reports.

6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Sourcing and Procurement:

- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on the company s requirements.

- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers.

- Place purchase orders ensuring that the specified delivery times meet production needs.

- Maintain and review a list of approved suppliers and regularly evaluate their performance.

2. Order Management:

- Track and manage open purchase orders.

- Address any delivery discrepancies, damaged goods, or other supply issues.

- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support manufacturing schedules.

3. Relationship Management:

- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.

- Work closely with internal departments, particularly with the manufacturing and

quality teams, to ensure alignment in quality and delivery standards.

4. Inventory Management:

- Monitor stock levels and initiate restocking processes as required.

- Work with the inventory management team to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and manage obsolete or excess inventory.

5. Reporting and Analysis:

- Provide regular reports on procurement metrics such as savings achieved, supplier performance, and lead times.

- Analyse market trends to identify potential new suppliers or products.

6. Continuous Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for cost-saving, process improvement, and supplier consolidation.

- Stay updated with industry best practices and introduce them to the procurement process as appropriate.

7. Compliance:

- Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies and any relevant regulations.

- Uphold ethical procurement practices and ensure suppliers do the same.
