Senior Audit Leader (AM/Manager) - Data Analytics

- The Manager will supervise teams of data analytics professionals in navigating the extensive production and analytical data environments within and apply that expertise to provide value-added data analysis solutions across multiple audit teams. In addition, the manager will be required to manage projects that focus on our continuous assurance monitoring and testing strategy as well as develop tools and training guidelines to help the team operate more effectively and efficiently.

- We are looking for a team member with experience in supervising audit teams with a proven track record of sound project management while using their significant data analytics, audit, or risk management experience. These abilities should allow them to supervise other team members to utilize data analysis methodologies and tools to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the audit process. This includes partnering with internal auditors to identify opportunities to utilize data analysis in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls in addition to assessing the quality and reliability of data.

Duties Include :

- Supervise audit engagements and data specific projects with 4-5 other data analysis professionals

- Work with audit teams and senior leadership to participate in key business projects to gather requirements, translate functional specifications into technical specifications to ensure a comprehensive design of the solution and ongoing customer support

- Understand, retrieve, process data that is structured and unstructured in nature that is sourced from large enterprise data warehouses, system of records, social media, news, web data, internal/external documents, emails, financial, transactional, sales, and operational data

- Analyze and model structured data and implement algorithms to support analysis using advanced statistical and mathematical methods from statistics, machine learning, data mining, econometrics, and operations research

- Utilize a diverse array of technologies and tools as needed, to deliver insights, such as R, SAS, Python and Tableau

- Participate in audit engagements with a focus on data and advanced business analytics in diverse domains such as risk management, product development, marketing and sales, supply chain; communicate results and educate others through reports and presentations

- Perform exploratory data analysis, generate and test working hypotheses, and uncover interesting trends and relationships

- Perform Statistical Natural Language Processing to mine unstructured data, using methods such as document clustering, topic analysis, and sentiment analysis, and part-of-speech tagging methods for unstructured and semi-structured data; prepare and analyze historical data and identify patterns

- Compile datasets using advanced SAS, SQL, R, Python scripts and queries for exploratory analysis and predictive analysis, and, use visualization techniques to communicate insights and recommendations to audit teams business

- Utilize a hypothesis-driven problem-solving approach to design, construct, and rapidly test/iterate exploratory analyses that will reveal insight and opportunities for risk management

- Analyzing user requirements and challenges, building efficient solution to help users reduce the manual work, and increase the efficiency using different technologies

- Provide guidance and feedback to more junior team members

- Stay up to date on research and industry trends, and identify technical areas for opportunity and lead innovation projects that demonstrate value; educate internal audit teams through workshops and training events

- Reviewing the documentation for the analysis in accordance with audit policy

- Partnering with assigned audit teams to build expertise in the use of data analysis within the internal audit function

- Training and mentoring audit teams in the use of data analysis and data analysis tools

Market Skills and Certifications

Minimum Requirements

- 8+ years of analytics experience, audit experience, or a combination of both.

- 4+ years of SAS programming experience

- 4+ years of SQL experience

- 3+ years of experience with open source tools such as Python, R or SCALA

- Bachelor's degree or Master's in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Econometrics, or related fields

Desired Qualifications and Skills :

- Certification in one or more of the following - CPA, CAMS, CRCM, CIA, CISA

- Audit experience at a large financial institution

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to synthesize complex problems/scenarios into easy-to-understand concepts

- Effective presentation skills and experience with engaging audiences of all levels

- Effective in rapidly evolving environments and working across organizational boundaries

- Creative, innovative, organized thinker, with a high attention to detail and out-of-the-box thinking

- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment

- Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives

- Demonstrated ability to write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience

- Experience working with business teams to identify and define problems

- Experience using descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze and present findings

- Experience with effectively writing, presenting and communicating research results to other teams

- Self-motivated to continuously upgrade one's domain knowledge, keep abreast of latest developments in the field and evaluate its application in the business area on a consistent basis

- Exceptional commitment to stay focused in one's pursuit towards excellence with demonstrated results of the same

- Competent programming aptitude with excellent computation and data mining skills

Other Preferred Skills :

- Proficiency with ACL and possibly other programming languages and tools (Visual Basic, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Reporting Service, etc.)

- Big data experience (Hadoop / MapReduce, Pig, Hive, and Spark) a big plus!

- Knowledge of UNIX scriptings such as Korn Shell and PERL is desirable

- 3+ years of relevant consulting or industry experience

- Experience working independently with minimal guidance

2+ years experience working in industry, leading analytics-based projects, and delivering results within scope, funding, and duration

- Strong data extraction and processing, using MapReduce, Pig, and/or Hive preferred

- Experience using visualization techniques for presenting data and analysis - knowledge of Tableau is a plus

- Experience using at least one programming language (Python or R preferred) to move and parse datasets

- Deep experience in extracting, cleaning, preparing and modeling data

- Experience with analysis in (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab) packages

- Experience in programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Java, Scala)

- Ability to work across multiple engagements with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems, using structured problem solving and communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
