Location : Main Global IT Centres

- Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job :

Overview of the Role of an SME :

- Within IT Innovation the A2AB2B Integration SMEs are responsible for ensuring that all change introduced into our regional landscapes is of high design quality, introduced in a timely, affordable and sustainable manner, at acceptable risk to ongoing operations and consistent with long-term plans for the evolution of our key landscapes

- There are a number of Subject Matter Expert roles. Each SME will be responsible for a particular process/application and technical area, and within that will :

- Provide support to Business Partners in driving clarity of business requirements, high level design, cost and time estimates to facilitate the production of high quality charters.

- Take responsibility during feasibility and capability phases for the translation of business requirements into a functional specification and specific work packages for call-off from service design and service introduction functions.

- Work in close partnership with Release Management and with Programme Directors to ensure on-time and on-budget execution & delivery of application changes or introductions for key projects and programmes.

- An SME will be responsible for the IT design in a specific process/application area and will also be closely involved in all build, test and go-live activity in this area.

- All SMEs will work closely with other SMEs to ensure E2E designs are integrated effectively to deliver sustainable business solutions delivered with acceptable risk to ongoing operations. From time to time, where the design work is particularly intense, SMEs may be seconded onto larger regional programs for periods of time, although this will be the exception rather than the norm.

Main Accountabilities :

Project-based Activities :

- Supporting Business Partners (BPs) in clarifying business requirements, developing appropriate high level designs, costs and time estimates for the production of high quality project Charters.

- QAing (and challenging) business requirements documentation delivered by process owners; ensuring that these are completed to the appropriate standard and level of detail and clarity.

Creating a clear conceptual designs for each project or change that will deliver the business requirements, balanced with the need for simplicity, re usability, lowest possible TCO and alignment to IT Destination Architecture, CoE Design Guidelines and Global Information Standards.

- Driving harmonization and convergence and ensure that standards are being used

- Proposing the priority and sequence of changes linked to specific releases and working with the Release Management organisation to agree these.

- Managing the process of development and sign-off of functional specifications for each project/group of changes.

- Specify packages of work to be called-off from the individual service towers (through the service design function) and creating project request form (PRF/PMERF) for work packages from application delivery partners. And ensuring timely delivery of these deliverables with IT suppliers (external and internal).

- Reviewing technical specifications as these are created by the delivery partners, and running design reviews during the build phase as appropriate.

- Assisting as required in later phases of the project e.g. creation of test scripts, post- go live reviews.

- Project managing minor enhancements, small projects or part of bigger programmes that affect the SMEs specific process/technology area.

Non Project-Based Activities :

- Outside of the specific project-based work set out above, each SME (focused on his/her own area of process and technology expertise) will be expected to:

- Develop a good understanding of future technology and architecture directions, including the opportunities for new functionality and reduced TCO created by these.

- Developing and driving knowledge of end to end business processes and their likely evolution.

- Generating and driving ideas for continuous improvement, simplification and reduced TCO in the existing systems landscape

- Drive convergence by promoting existing strategic solutions rather than re-inventing the wheel or rolling out further non strategic solutions, being able to identify and validate options and to have a fact based discussions with the relevant stakeholders about the way forward.

- Developing relationships, with key stakeholders in the BP, Service, S&P quadrants, with key business owners and Process Offices, with strategic suppliers and 3rd party IT service providers to help both drive and share this knowledge base.

Relevant Experience :

- Proven experience in business analysis and business process improvement

- Project management experience of at least medium sized projects

- Experience of working in teams across multiple locations

- Extensive knowledge of relevant processes and IT solutions in area of responsibility

- Experience of business case and project contract development

- Appreciation of IT systems landscapes and impact of architecture decisions on quality and delivery

- Technical specialism in the relevant IT technologies or applications

- Leadership Behaviours

- Should "meet expectations" on the Standards of Leadership behaviours relevant to the WL of this job.

- Having a Global Mindset is key and a pre-requiste for that role.
