About Controls Testing Team
Credit Risk Controls Testing team is a part of Conformance Team within Second Line of Defence. The team provides independent controls testing service to BUK and BI Credit Risk teams.
Overall purpose of role
- To execute against a comprehensive control testing framework for Credit Risk.
- To operate and monitor a robust control testing framework
- Maintain a robust audit trail of control testing evidence.
- Be a subject matter expert for control related matters within Credit Risk, challenging current work practices with senior stakeholders where applicable.
- Be innovative with recommendations, drawing on global best practice to close control gaps and strengthen the overall control environment, ensuring these meet all regulatory requirements.
- To support the in producing a robust management information to report the control testing outcomes
Key Accountabilities
Control Testing - Credit Risk 100 %
- Ensure that an effective control testing framework is implemented.
- Carry out a risk based approach to control activity, which will involve the execution of a robust schedule of control testing - RCSA
- Provide expert consultation advice to Global credit risk community primarily Corporate & International on RCSA.
- Drive consistency across control environments globally
- Ensure that work completed draws appropriate conclusions that are properly reflected in recommendations and reports. Work closely with Credit Risk Officers to ensure implementation of necessary actions to rectify issues identified.
- Maintain robust management information to monitor control testing outcomes and identify any material weaknesses.
- To identify corrective actions which are viable and achievable and remediate root cause or issues
- To present recommendations for corrective action, to the CRO (or delegate) ensuring appropriate plans are in place to implement within an agreed timescale.
- Apply expert judgment to control testing output to drive policy/strategy change
Demonstrate resilience when challenged by senior stakeholders, ensuring the materiality of issues remain in focus,
Stakeholder management and leadership.
- Role holder is required to partner with various Teams within Risk to make effective control recommendations to Senior Credit Risk Officers
Decision making and problem solving.
- Role holder will be responsible for making decisions on the effectiveness of control and will need to present the outcomes to senior stakeholders.
- Role holder should have a sound knowledge of Investment Banking processes and is preferred to have Credit Risk understanding.
- Role holder is required to have proven experience of implementing, testing against risk and controls frameworks and testing methodologies.
Person Specification
- A sound understanding of conformance processes controls & checks.
- Good understanding of end to end Credit Risk lifecycle across Investment Banking or Wholesale products
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience of quality control, compliance, conformance, operational risk or audit function would be advantageous.
Education: Minimum Graduation
