Assistant Manager - Bid Management/Business Development - Coal Mining

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Market Information & Competitive Analysis:

- Develop and maintain comprehensive market intelligence on the coal mining sector, including competitor activities, industry trends, and regulatory updates.

- Conduct strategic analysis of opportunities in coal mining, focusing on MDO (Mine Developer Operator) and commercial coal mining projects.

- Analyze the impact of various policies, acts, and laws on the coal mining industry and its potential impact on the company's business.

Evaluation & Financial Analysis:

- Lead the evaluation and analysis of potential coal blocks from technical, commercial, risk management, logistics, financial viability, and strategic perspectives.

- Prepare detailed reports with recommendations based on the analysis.

- Develop and maintain robust financial models (costing models) to assess the financial viability of potential projects and present findings to management.

Bidding & Negotiation:

- Lead the bidding process for securing coal block leases, including evaluating commercial and non-commercial parameters of RFPs and agreements.

- Interact with clients, prepare and submit pre-bid queries for proposed changes in tender/contract clauses, and negotiate favorable terms.

- Evaluate and finalize bid documents, ensuring all requirements are met.

- Manage the bid submission process, including financial bids.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

- Work closely with internal stakeholders across various departments (e. g. , Engineering, Legal, Finance) to ensure seamless coordination during bidding, evaluation, and financial modeling activities.

- Collaborate with internal teams for strategic planning related to coal block bids.

Job Specifications:

Qualifications:

Essential: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BE/B. Tech) or a related field from a reputed institution.

An MBA is a plus.

Experience:

- Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in the coal mining industry.

- Hands-on experience in bidding/bid submission for coal mining, MDO, and commercial coal mining projects.

- Proven track record of preparing and reviewing financial models for commercial coal mining and MDO projects.

- Strong understanding of commercial/non-commercial and legal aspects of bidding documents (RFPs, Mining Agreements).

- Broad knowledge of parameters affecting coal mining projects (geo-technical, project milestones, approvals/clearances, risks, and cost impact).

- Experience interacting with external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Coal, PSUs, transaction advisors, and industry contacts.
