Assistant Director, Valuations - Transaction Real Estate

Within Transaction Advisory, TRE group is part of Valuations & Business Modelling sub-service line. Our TRE practice provides real estate analytical services and other business advisory services to developers, builders, investors, lenders and Fortune 500 companies.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of an Assistant Director:
- The main objective is to achieve business growth by developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision-makers, informing them of our scope of services and communicating how these services benefit their organizations.
- Building relationships with the firm's offices across the globe, demonstrating knowledge of regional practices business and developing open communication channels
- Identifying new services within business and working with partners and senior managers on learning and piloting activities.
- Leading and managing engagements related to real estate advisory, valuation and due diligence, spread across property types:
- Engagements include valuation and financial analyses of property assets, cash flow modeling, analytical model reviews, property/portfolio modeling, loan portfolio underwriting, due diligence and real estate advisory services.
- We are involved in analysis of a variety of property types including multi-family residential, office, retail, hotel, warehouse, industrial, mixed-use, infrastructure, and special-use properties.
- Specific engagement responsibilities will include assessing the nature, quantum and complexity of work involved in an engagement, discussing and planning timelines and key milestones, breaking down engagement scope into activities and tasks and allocating people and resources to accomplish tasks, guiding and coaching team members and reviewing their work, and ensuring final delivery in line with client's expectations
- Focus and effort should be to exceed client's expectations, and looking for opportunities to expand own and team's role on engagements.
- Developing and guiding staff and other junior professionals by providing effective performance feedback/training, and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals. Leading by example
Operational responsibilities
- Identify issues and propose strategies related to the procedures executed
- Manage a team of 25-30 professionals
- Ensure that workflow is seamless and well managed with on time delivery of engagements /projects
- Demonstrate teamwork and responsibility by engaging with team members
- Use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided
- Stay abreast of current business and economic developments relevant to our as well as the client's business
Job requirements
To qualify, candidates must have:
- A post graduate degree in finance, economics, accounting (CA) or business with 10+ years of related work experience. Preference to candidates with relevant advanced degree or accreditation in real estate, such as MRICS, FRICS
- Significant experience in real estate advisory and valuation, including knowledge of and ability to apply different techniques to analyze and value property assets, such as NAV, DCF, sales comparable, etc. Experience in global real estate markets and variety of property classes will be preferred.
- Experience in financial modeling including creating cash flow models for various property classes.
- Knowledge of specialized databases covering US and global real estate markets, and modelling tools specific to real estate such as Argus, will be an added advantage
- Proven experience in developing and growing practices to serve new markets or provide new offerings, including ability to hold strategic conversations with stakeholders in senior and decision-making positions
- People management experience of 5+ years, including recruiting, training, performance appraisals and overall team development
- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, interpersonal and teaming skills
- Willingness and ability to travel, when necessary
