GDIA Mission and Scope-
The Global Data Insights and Analytics (GDI&A) department at - Looking for qualified people who can develop mathematical solutions for real-world problems in the areas of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, Smart Mobility, and Warranty, using optimization and related quantitative methods. The goal of GDI&A is to drive evidence-based decision making by providing insights from data.
Potential candidates should have good depth and breadth of knowledge in any of large-scale linear/non-linear programming, combinatorial optimization, mixed-integer programming, constrained programming, discrete event simulation, system dynamics, game theory and related operations research and simulation techniques. Candidates should have hands-on experience in developing quantitative models with an appetite for consuming latest modelling techniques from academic journals. They should possess the ability to translate a business problem into an analytical problem, recommend, implement and validate quantitative models, and generate/deliver insights to stakeholders. Preference would be given to candidates that are intellectually curious, innovative thinkers, and have demonstrated ability to solve problems independently. The role is that of an individual contributor; however, the candidate is expected to work in project teams of 2 to 3 people and interact with Business partners on regular basis.
Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position:
- Understand business problems and develop appropriate mathematical formulations
- Extract relevant data sets and mash-up data from multiple sources & formats
- Investigate and recommend best-suited optimization, simulation, and other quantitative methods/tools to create robust solutions for business problems
- Implement quantitative models in programming languages like JAVA, C++, C#, Python, and in packages like R, CPLEX, ILOG, AMPL, AnyLogic
- Communicate insights to Business partners by translating complex mathematical models into simple to understand language
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Operations Research/Applied Mathematics/Engineering or any other related discipline
- Practical applications of techniques like linear/non-linear programming, simulation, combinatorial optimization, mixed-integer linear/non-linear programming, discrete choice models, game theory, system dynamics
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and data presentation skills
- Familiarity with any of C, C++, C#, JAVA, R, Python
- Experience with any of CPLEX, ILOG, AMPL, GAMS, Matlab, Anylogic, Simul8
- Knowledge and experience of working with SQL databases and ability to quickly learn new tools for data wrangling and visualization
