The role overview
Analysts and Associates would be an integral part of the loan origination team lead by the Vice President and provide support to the relationship managers in all aspects of the transaction process.
This is an exciting opportunity to dive deep into our focus sectors and independently develop proprietary pipeline and lead due-diligence as well as structuring.
The Analysts/Associates will also work closely with the RMs on post-lending portfolio management. Thus, expect the role to provide a 360 degree perspective of social businesses and a chance for a steep learning curve.
Candidates, who take initiative, have a strong work ethic, passion for the social sector and a high level of maturity are considered ideal.
Superior written and oral communication skills are also required for the role. Analyst/Associate is a graduate level position. Candidates having advanced qualifications MBA/CFA/CA or relevant experience may be considered for a Sr. Associate position.
Responsibilities -
- New employee will be a critical member of the transaction team and will support other members of the origination team, through financial and business analysis
- Develop the pipeline & strategy and ensures client screening in line with the double bottom line commercial and social goals by interfacing with investor ecosystem, impact enterprises, specialized industry consultants etc. Maintain internal database of potential investments
- Carry out desk diligence for preliminary screening and investment review along with relationship manager
- Work with the relationship manager for diligence field visits, due diligence, internal presentations and drafting of credit notes and presentation to the committee
- Carry out financial modelling including sensitivity analysis to support potential investment opportunities
- Interface with clients on disbursement process, periodic reporting and act as first point of contact for the client team
- Work with finance & compliance team for timely reporting of financial metrics & compliance matters and with banks and lenders for treasury requirements
- Responsible for development and timely delivery of internal MIS for pipeline, portfolio, monitoring and monthly dashboard to board/investors
- Establish and maintain relationship with industry, trade and professional organizations to enhance visibility of the firm and its portfolio companies in the market place
- Travel required (upto 30% of time)
Qualifications and desired skills
- An ideal candidate would be mature, responsible and a self-starter
- Highly analytical with knowledge of financial modelling and experience in MS Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including clear, concise writing skills
- Willingness to work in a fast paced start-up/early stage environment
- Prior experience of working in NBFCs/Bank is desirable, preferably in a role involving Business Origination/Lending expertise in SME/Social Enterprise sector
- Bachelor's Degree in Business/Economics/Commerce for Analyst/Associate with at least 2 year of impact investing, SME lending, Consulting or Investment banking experience
- Experience in the Social Impact sector in India is desirable, though not mandatory
- CA/ MBA/ CFA with at least 3 years relevant experience as above will be considered for Sr. Associate position
