Purpose Responsible for the end-to-end global inventory processes, solutions, and data within supply chain ERP structure (JD Edwards, Oracle, and other integrated solutions). Will be able to understand the accounting implications and requirements around those areas and support the solution configuration and design to ensure they are delivered accurately, efficiently, and with the appropriate controls. Requires mastery of the global inventory processes and accounting implications, provides consultation as necessary to executive management, and leads complex inventory related projects. Primary Responsibilities: - Provide leadership and guidance to Inventory Accounting and Solutions team - Straight-line reporting relationship of three CR SSC staff - Lead the annual external audit engagement for all inventory activities - Audit coordination - Ernst & Young audit requirements including inventory reconciliation review, inventory fluctuation analysis, LIFO testing, general inquiries and any other external audit inventory related requirements. - Manage execution of key inventory related activities - Inventory reconciliations, projections, etc. - Manage inventory solutions / supply chain changes - Perform ERP system upgrades or implementations - Define business requirements and implement them in ERP solutions - Understand the supply chain process in our solutions and the accounting implication - Analyze business processes and identify inefficiencies or inaccuracies - Partner with regions, affiliates, and other HQ divisions to support changes to business systems and tools - Research and resolve issues found in financial and related solutions - Perform testing, training and ongoing support to end-users - Responsible for select inventory accounting procedures and analysis - Cycle counts - FIFO calculations and amortization - Year-end book LIFO calculations and journal entries - Pre-paid inventory reconciliation - Global Sales Analysis ownership including feeds from all affiliates - Effectively leveraging standard global Finance processes and solutions by aligning organizations, roles, responsibilities, and adopting common measures for success - Deliver effective and efficient Finance capabilities by the global adoption of standard policies, processes, and high-performance business solutions - Ensure integrity of standard global Finance processes and solutions through strong internal controls, efficient governance, and clear decision rights, with global representation and corporate support - Program, Processes, Services: Responsible for all inventory-related supply chain ERP solutions and integrations to those solutions, including both JD Edwards and Oracle. Staff Management: - Hire, develop and lead a high performing team. Mentor, coach and guide professionals to help develop the top talent pipeline - Develop goals, objectives and performance expectations - Day-to-day team leadership and prioritization (either directly or through subordinate leaders) MANAGEMENT LEVEL SUPERVISOR - Supervises a function or a portion of a department - Manages day-to-day activities of supervised staff - Coaches and leads staff - Responsible for hiring, performance management and discipline - Typical direct reports are entry/developing exempt and/or hourly support staff Revenue & Managed Spend Budget: Direct Managed Spend- : - Operating Budget = $120,000 - Capital Budget = May have input into capital budget of inventory related solutions globally. - Distribution Costs = May influence global distribution costs as it relates to solutions that are chosen, efficiencies attained, and configurations made. - Cost of Sales = Responsible for reconciling global intercompany COS exceeding $100 million monthly. Revenue of Markets Supported: Supports all markets globally through Finance COE (Center of Excellence) responsibilities - $8 billion. Additional Scope Information: - Finance COE (Center of Excellence) responsibilities, including: - Nature of functions managed are primarily analytical in nature and requires a deep and wide knowledge of inventory solutions and their impact on the financial statements - Functional horizon of solutions designed, configured, tested, and launched are long-term in nature (5+ years) - Geographic responsibility includes all Amway regions and affiliates globally. Example is recently implemented JD Edwards solution in Amway India, where Corporate team was 100% responsible for effective and efficient design, configuration, testing, and deployment of an ERP supply chain solution to this important affiliate - Direct reports reside both in Ada, Michigan and San Jose, Costa Rica - Responsible for managing vendors chosen during RFQ and RFP processes when implementing new solutions Education - Graduate/Post Graduate in Accounting / Finance or another Business curriculum Experience - 10 -15 years Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience: - Experience to include 8 or more years of business solutions experience, specifically in the ERP environment - Understanding of how design changes in ERP systems impact accounting - Knowledge of inventory transactions and how inventory records are maintained - Change management skills - Experience in ERP implementations and upgrades (JDE or Oracle considered a plus) - Project management skills in running large, global projects - Effective communication skills - Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, some internationally Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience: - Inventory accounting and/or supply chain finance experience a plus
