Manager Merchant Pricing & Strategic Projects
Responsibilities :
- Merchant Services, the American Express merchant network, acquires, services, and maintains relationships with merchants in India who welcome American Express-branded cards.
- The role will be responsible for the management and optimization of Discount Revenue, American Express's largest revenue stream. The person will work with various functional teams to develop and implement initiatives which align merchant pricing to the value delivered by our network
The Manager is a critical member of India Merchant Services leadership team that has an ambitious agenda for 2018 and beyond. The role is based in Gurgaon and reports to the VP/GM of Merchant services who is also based in Gurgaon. There will also be a dotted line reporting to the regional director of pricing.
The role will support the achievement of the following strategic priorities for India :
1) Optimize discount revenue leveraging merchant pricing as an enabler.
2) Support coverage goals with a focus on small merchants and grow share of B2B billings
3) Improve merchant satisfaction
4) Manage the forecasting & planning process related to discount revenue
5) Represent Merchant services in India business digital projects
6) Lead other Merchant Revenue initiatives
7) Manage internal & external audit
8) Responsible for vendor payments, contract & financial management (includes Year End accruals, partner payments etc.)
In supporting the VP for Merchant services this Manager will be expected to :
- Provide thought leadership to various groups on the merchant needs & experience aspects of various Blue Box initiatives
- Quickly assess a specific merchant situation and develop a pricing recommendation which is consistent with pricing policy, sensitive to the particular merchant situation, and profitable to GMS and the Blue Box
- Lead/ guide implementation of Pricing initiatives & solutions
- Drive Other Revenue initiatives for Merchant services
- Prepare key presentations for the Merchant Services Team
- Coordinate all regulatory and audit matters for the Merchant Services business
Required Qualifications & Skills :
- Chartered Accountant/ MBA/ PG Qualifications in Finance from a premier institution
- At least 10 years of post-qualification work experience
- Strong analytical skills
- Superior relationship management skills & ability to influence groups
- Superior communication skills - oral and written
- Strong understanding of the payment landscape with particular focus on digital, online space, & emerging payments products space
- Excellent understanding of the competitive environment & ability to define differentiated value
- High on the ability to drive innovation
- Excellent strategic thought leadership and comfortable working with unstructured problems
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a volatile, uncertain, fast-paced, matrix environment
- Sound System Knowledge & a thorough understanding of the American Express Network
- Diligent, process oriented, with strong attention to details
- Entrepreneurial mindset & ability to drive outcomes
- Knowledge of Credit cards or Payments is added advantage
