The Retail Systems group at Amazon Chennai Development Center focuses on making direct impact on the following Amazon.com core principles:

The Retail Systems group at Amazon Chennai Development Center owns execution of business critical operations and solving information retrieval and data mining problems to extract structured-data from unstructured-content, architecting large-scale real-time distributed systems, et al - to make a direct impact to Amazon.com core principles.

Operations Manager in this group will lead a cross skilled team of associates (technical & non-technical) and managers responsible for business critical processes.

- You will be responsible for a cross-skilled team and will need to direct, manage and provide leadership to drive operations and business impact.

- You will need to interact directly with Amazon internal stakeholders across the globe to deliver on operational goals, drive operational improvements and deliver business value.

- You will also be the co-owner in budgeting and reporting activities.

Key Performance Areas:

- Manage a cross functional team of technical and non-technical resources to ensure high service delivery and execution.

- Mentor and guide associates/managers to manage quality, improve process efficiency and drive improvements.

- Drive cross functional projects to deliver business results for the team; be part of projects involving new feature definition to improve processes.

- Work with data engineering team to implement and improve the Metrics / Reporting

- Formulate, implement and track career development plans of each member in the team

Desired Skills and Experience:

Basic Qualification:

- A bachelor's degree or higher is required, with over 7 years of experience (5 years with full time MBA)

- A minimum 2 years in managing people and interacting with global customers / stake holders.

- A minimum 3 years of Cross functional experience in dealing with technical teams (IT / Support / Network)

Preferred Qualification:

- Bachelors in Engineering with 2 years of experience in software development / support engineering

- Masters in Operations/MBA from a Premier Institute preferred

- Familiarity with retail/eCommerce operations and business processes

- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with capability to process high amount of data to drive business decisions.

- Strong process/project management, prioritization, and multi-tasking capabilities.
