Amazon would like to build on this by developing and scaling specialized categories that are backed by third party sellers.  This is a Greenfield opportunity for an entrepreneurially minded leader, with experience in launching and scaling new businesses ground-up, to create and scale new categories for the world's largest and most successful e-commerce company. The Category leader of 3P Categories will be responsible for developing the strategic vision for Amazon's third party seller powered category products, and for building and leading the organization to execute this vision. Primary responsibilities include visioning, brand development, product development, sourcing, QA, seller partnerships, and merchandising.   Primary Responsibilities:  - Provide leadership for the category team and across the company to ensure that the various functions supporting the business have accountability for all important metrics.  - Drive innovation aimed at improving customer experience, scaling the category nonlinearly, and strengthening seller relationships.  - Work cross functionally with central company-wide teams in Technology, Operations and Merchant Services to establish the right processes and optimize them to utilize resources most efficiently.  - Overcome and solve complex obstacles that impact the category and possibly other categories, effectively escalate issues across all levels in the company.  - Devise plans through early identification of the competition, and understanding the customer needs and pushing for features and products that will differentiate Amazon from others in the local market.  - Drive sustainable process improvements across the functions which create year-over-year efficiency in the category.  - Partner with the Sales teams to identify and acquire sellers who can help bring the right kind of selection for the category.  - Identify new approaches for improving selection and category awareness to better manage the category over the long run.  - Focus on talent management of the category team which includes effectively hiring and developing the best talent, and creating an environment which motivates people to thrive in their expertise and deliver aggressive results.  Basic Qualifications  - Proven ability to deliver first class customer experiences with a deep understanding of UX best practices.  - General management experience managing the P&L for a business with significant revenues.   - Experience with all of the following functional skills: Brand Development, Product Development and Requirements Definition, Product Sourcing (including negotiating with manufacturers), and Quality Assurance.  - Proven analytical skills and ability to influence people both internally and externally. Decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas.  - Strong communication skills, including the ability to write compelling, concise documents and present your ideas with passion and persuasion.  - 12+ years of e-commerce, marketing, product/program management, consulting or related experience; team leadership;   - Bachelor's degree and Master's degree  - Extensive experience in the program, and/or project management in leading cross-functional teams in the delivery of major new products or services in e-commerce, retail, logistics, supply chain, internet products or related fields.  - Experience defining the market and product requirements, working with engineering organizations to rapidly deliver high-impact capabilities to market.  - Must have the bias for action and strong work ethic.  Preferred Qualifications  - Experience in running an apparel or personalized merchandise business preferred.  - Work experience across FMCG and/or Retail in building a new segment, channel or category from bottom up.  - Entrepreneurial experience, where the candidate built a business from the ground up.  - Proven ability to work in ambiguous situations.
