Position: Asia Regional Tax manager


Location: Asia - Jakarta/Hyderabad/Singapore


Reports to: Regional Financial Director Asia


SUMMARY:


Regional Tax manager is responsible for planning, managing and developing the Asia regions tax activities, as well as tax risk management and compliance functions to optimize the companys overall tax position. This position involves overseeing all tax matters for the region while working closely with the groups global tax department and third parry service providers on policy development, documentation, and dispute resolution.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


- Provide strategic tax planning and advice to origin and region leadership.


- Continuously assess the regions transfer pricing policies and strategies to ensure alignment with company business objectives and origin tax laws.


- Monitor and evaluate the impact of changes in tax laws and regulations for each origin and ensure the company adapts strategies accordingly.


- Identify and mitigate tax risks through effective internal controls and procedures


- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and other tax related documentation including Transfer Pricing documentation in compliance with each origins tax laws and regulations.


- Monitor BEPS 2.0 GLOBE reporting requirements and partner with global tax to ensure compliance in the Region.


- Serve as the regional transfer pricing resource and work with the global tax department to develop global transfer pricing policies, best practices, and strengthen the transfer pricing documentation based on local requirements.


- Oversee tax audits, resolve emerging issues with tax authorities and be the liaison person with exertional service providers on dispute resolutions.


- Reviewing origin quarterly and annual group tax reporting packets before submission to Global Tax


- Assist the global tax department in developing and implementing tax reporting systems to support global tax computations.


- Assist in providing training to origin accounting and tax teams as needed.


- Prepare and review deferred tax calculations and tax account reconciliations on a quarterly basis for the Region


- Maintenance of uncertain tax positions in the region


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:


- Qualified Accountant (CIMA/CA/ACMA or other recognized accounting qualifications.


- Eight to Ten years of post-qualification progressive transfer pricing experience, of which 4 years should be at a senior tax management position within a multinational manufacturing environment or public accounting practice


- Prefer financial expertise with good knowledge of financial business processes related to global tobacco operations.


- Have worked in Africa before and has vast Africa tax knowledge


SKILLS AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:


- In-depth knowledge of OECD guidelines, BEPS actions, and other international transfer pricing regulations.


- Proven track record of managing complex income tax issues and audits


- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently.


- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).


- Strong analytical and PC skills.


- Culturally aware and able to work with a diverse team.


- Willingness to travel.
