Line Head - Technical Services
Job Purpose:
- Manages and directs team in the planning, CI and sustainability of the systems infrastructure, including long range planning and budgeting.
- Demonstrates expertise in areas of Cost reduction, Business excellence, Quality assurance & systems, Customers technical services, Environment management & sustainability.
- Drives innovation centre, partnering with other FHs.
Job Context & Major Challenges:
Job Context: Line Head Technical Services manages large complex projects and services teams.
In this job Line Head technical services:
- Manage unit planning & budgeting
- Engaging with commercial team for technology procurement
- Develop and recommend strategic and tactical plans for the delivery of technical services
- Communicate technical/complex information in meaningful way
- Analyse and problem solve technical issues
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Other Major Challenges:
- Continuously stay updated with intra group & global technological upgradation & replicate best practices to stay cost competitive & exceed customer expectation
- Developing multi-skilled teams to handle business related assignments
- Adopting new technology & create road map for smooth execution of complex projects
Key Result Areas and Supporting Actions:
Management of Technical Service:
- Stay updated with latest technological developments & translate those to unit (Pulp & Fibre) performance improvement as appropriate
- Monitor close scrutiny of developments and events within the industry which will impact on future business opportunity, legislation or trading practices
- Set benchmark process through in house /outside innovation. Coordinate with appropriate agencies, group experts for critical problem solving ideas & replication of best practices
- Review & ensure accurate recording of plant performance, job costing and activities to exceed customer expectation by Technical Service Department
Analytics:
- Analytics and Monitor derailers
- Work on strategy for sustainable improvement to meet profit targets
- Evaluate operational efficiency, review & lay out plan for improvement opportunities to eliminate variance
- Drive Aspect-Impact Analysis for process, maintenance & assets
- Review data for breakdown / failures / variations & support respective department for action plan for CAPA execution, allocate resources as required
GRC (Governance Risk & Compliance) - Environment & Sustainability - Ensure business continuity in a sustained manner:
- Regular review to ensure unit meets all statutory, environmental & legal norms. Allocate resources & guide appropriately for licensing & liaisoning activities
- Ensure implementation of WCM, ISO, OHSMS & necessary audits compliance
- Compliance with PAT & Energy audit requirements
- Oversee plant performance vis- vis ABG sustainability standard for Air, Water, Solid waste, Noise, Waste Water, ENHESA, WASH & lay out appropriate action plan to eliminate variance, allocate resources for the same as necessary
Quality Management:
- Establish robust laboratory system to ensure thoughtful analysis of actual experiments. Genuine understanding & being able to relate the abstract ideas to the particular facts
- Guide Quality assurance, Customer technical services & SPC departments to be proactive for potential customer complains & appropriate preventive actions, to resolve customer issues & for continuous improvements
Customer Centricity:
- Continuously monitor customer interactions, take necessary actions to improve customer relation & use appropriate problem solving tools
- Ensure customer queries, concerns and feedback are managed with minimum response time
Planning & Budgeting:
- Plan and budget improvement projects for the financial year for implementation (CAPEX & OPEX both)
- Extend required guidance & support to HODs, FHs for P&B finalization. Quarterly review and updates
- Finalize P&B with corporate and communicate to the stake holders
- Ensure that the Department achieves target and budget objectives by ongoing examination of accounts and daily & weekly operating controls
Projects Management:
- Scrutinize techno commercial feasibility analysis for the project
- Ensure all materials purchased are competitive & as per specification
- Engage with commercial function for budget allocation, material purchase & inventory for on time and within budget project completion
- Project performance evaluation and sustaining gain
- In case of deviations consult with suppliers and ensure desired gains are achieved on continual basis
- Allocate resources for projects & take lead for derailed/delayed projects to meet time line
People Development:
- Establish and maintain a training needs program to provide satisfactory levels of knowledge, skill, job satisfaction and cost-effective development of key personnel
- Identify special training need for technical knowledge upgradation & look for suitable agencies in coordination with HR, internally or externally
Sustainability:
- Organization wide awareness and training about sustainability framework of ABG
- Overseeing audits and corrective action
- Ensuring compliance and legal requirements in the operations
- Leading sustainability projects to reduce environment impact and technical inputs
