Role Description

Chief Data Scientist will be responsible to establish the future technical product vision and lead all aspects of the technology product development.

He/she should crave to go beyond traditional boundaries and be an - Out of the Box- thinker. He/ she should believe the customer should be at the centre of the solution and not the product. Revolutionary and disruptive in approach, the candidate should be passionate to make cutting-edge changes to the way financial services is delivered in India.

The ideal candidate must keep up-to-date with recent advancements in the field. Apart from their education and experience, they must have every quality of a leader and a strong strategic and business acumen.

Key Responsibilities

- Define data structures required and identify their sources

- Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems

- Extend company's data with third party sources of information when needed

- Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis

- Develop ingenious and robust state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms to establish credit worthiness and risk of an applicant

- Use big data to identify qualified leads and pass them to the customer acquisition team

- Measure impact of all deliveries and back it up with appropriate data. Constantly iterating on product offerings based on feedback & data.

- Create new offerings by demonstrating cohesive end-to-end thinking and partner closely with cross functional teams to define the work required to successfully deliver and realize a winning offering.

- Strategize and think about new ways to leverage traditional and big data

- Track interesting trends on emerging product offerings that are relevant to business

- Build, and manage an outstanding product team, and keep them motivated

Desired Skills / Experience

- At least 5 years of work experience as a data scientist

- Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms

- Experience with common data science toolkits, such as Weka, NumPy etc. and statistical applications such as SAS, SPSS, R, Revolution R, or similar statistical applications Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable

- Experience with data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.

- Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig, Hadoop

- Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase

- Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.

- Good scripting and programming skills

- Proven ability to build teams and lead organizations in a rapidly growing environment

- Strong analytic & problem-solving capabilities

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and influence executives, business leaders, and technology leaders.

- Entrepreneurial experience (starting a company, running innovation teams within companies) strongly preferred
