Pursuing Actuarial Exams, Passed a minimum of three actuarial exams
Experience :
- Three - five years of relevant work experience
Domain Skills : Pension or relevant domain knowledge is a requirement. However we may relax this requirement if the candidate is exceptional.
Technical Skills : Leverage/Project & Resource Management Leverages junior colleagues to complete valuations
- Full responsibilities for some larger valuations
- Manages valuations independently and makes sure all deliverables are completed, timely and within scope
- Helps junior colleagues prioritize valuations
Technical Skills 2 :
- Communication with Clients Begins to have more technical discussions with the stakeholders
- Prepares original materials (letters, reports, discussion guides) for the lead actuary including first draft of commentary on results
- Peer reviews others
Technical Skills 3 :
- Client Knowledge and Relationships Answers many client questions without reliance on the lead actuary
- Strong backup to lead actuary
- Maintains some and develops other relationships with higher- level contacts
Technical Skills 4 :
- Ownership of Work Tests results from client's perspective
- Comfortable checking work performed by others
- Able to communicate results, options, pitfalls, questions
- Ensures own work and work of junior colleagues is complete and thorough, requiring minimal review from lead actuary
Technical Skills 5 :
- Learning/Technical Knowledge Uses formal training as deeper dive in technical topics; leverages to client valuations
- Trains less experienced colleagues; gives feedback; leads new hire sessions
- Builds knowledge of valuations, interprets results and explains results to clients
- Help to refine National Valuation Team standards and processes and develop training materials
- Resource for more complex ProVal issues
Technical Skills 6 :
- Client Financial Results Manages and improves recovery on own National Valuation Team projects
- Begins to monitor broader National Valuation Team colleagues and process to measure efficiency
- Starts to consider valuation budget and how time should be spent by whom
- Identifies and implements improvements to the National Valuation Team valuation process
