Vice President – Business Development

- The Vice President of Business Development reports to the CEO and will develop, lead, and implement the company’s sales strategy and initiatives. He/ she will drive the company’s achievement of its customer acquisition and revenue goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for the company’s revenue
- Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
- Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of sales function
- Hire and develop sales staff
- Manage the sales teams, operations, and resources to deliver profitable growth
- Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
- Define and oversee incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
- Educate prospective and current clients about AbsolutData’s value proposition and service offerings
- Engage with prospective and current clients to understand their business problems, analytics/ research needs and suggest potential solutions in line with AbsolutData’s capabilities and suite of service offerings
- Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
- Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions
- Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions
- Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships
- Work effectively with colleagues (primarily sales, marketing, client services, and operations) in the organization to take a lead (where necessary) through the sales cycle and close the deal.
This includes:
- Identifying and bringing expertise to client conversations to address specific client need/problem and convert sales leads into pilot
- Piloting solutions by proving our value proposition and value addition to clients into projects/ contracts
- Work closely with marketing function to establish successful channel and partner programs
Prerequisites
- A strategic, resourceful, & creative individual who is a proven hands-on sales leader that thrives in fast-paced, high energy environments
- Commercially savvy, strong track-record of proven success in making & closing complex sales
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation, & relationship building abilities
- Logical thinker with sound analytical capabilities. Able to grasp difficult concepts at top level
- High energy, tenacious and resilient
- Strong listening and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Able to handle multiple priorities and perform accurately under time pressures and constraints
- At least 10 years sales experience in comparable industries, with 4 years in a senior management position
- Experience with specific sales methodology, sales funnel management
- Experienced in assessing the value/ potential of a lead and creating appropriate strategy
- Experience in choosing, deploying and using marketing and sales applications
- Strong evidence of building successful internal and external relationships
- Capacity to assume more significant executive responsibilities over time
- Some experience in consulting/solutions related businesses is preferred
- Evidence of selling complex solutions to demanding professionals
- Credible, demonstrable track record of sales performance along with client-facing negotiating skills at top level
- A bachelor’s degree is essential. MBA or other advanced degree is preferred but not required

Preferably located in the Bay Area (San Francisco)/ Open to other locations as well
