POSITION TITLE : CATEGORY HEAD (FMCG) LOCATION : Bangalore
REPORTS TO : Business Head
A. POSITION BRIEF
As a Category Manager , the incumbent will lead all marketing activities for the brand portfolio in the category.
* This category registers net sales of approx. Rs.1000 crores per annum * The position is a leadership marketing position. The incumbent will be responsible for an aggressive growth agenda for the category in a highly competitive context. The scope of work includes brand management, consumer activation, new product development, shopper activation & trade marketing. * This is an excellent opportunity for a middle level marketing talent to leverage their skills & learning to progress to a leadership role.
B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Brand Portfolio Management
o Prepare Marketing Plan
o Develop advertising briefs.
o Deliver Sales, market share & net margins.
* Consumer Insighting
o The Brand manager has a key role to play in discovering powerful consumer insights and using the same to unlock growth. All brand-building activities have to be founded on clear & compelling consumer/ customer insights.
* New Product Development / Innovation Process
o Recommend Launch for new products. Work with R&D on product development, conduct Market and feasibility studies for New Products; Assist the Marketing & R&D Head in conceiving new product strategies for the brands and newer SKUs.
o Creating and executing launch and Communicate plan
o Seek Approvals, co-ordinate with other departments on prospecting plans and post launch market support activities to ensure launch of new products
* Activation
o Consumer promotions schemes, prepares financial analysis, take approvals, coordinate with supply chain and sales for procurement and implementation to increase sales volumes.
o Develop shopper insights to formulate differentiated trade marketing programs.
o Coordinate with the Sales team in implementing the trade promotion plans.
C. CUSTOMER PROFILE
Internal Sales Team – Trade Promotion, Strategies with regular follow up on implementation.
R & D – Liaise on new product development & QA related activities.
Legal – Clearance of packaging and other legal related activites w.r.t the brands.
Supply Chain Manager – for S & OP process
Packaging Manager – For development – as and when required
Finance – for tracking margins, ATL, BTL spends / margins etc
External Media buying Agencies – Media plans – Monthly
MR Agency – for market research – as and when required
Advertising Agency – to develop advertising.
Consumers / Customers – for product feedback / response – regular.
D. DIRECT REPORTS
This position will have 6 - 7 people reporting in.
E. CANDIDATE PROFILE
MBA ( 2 yrs full time) in Marketing from top tier / tier 2 institute (pass out (1997 - 2000) with 10 - 12 years experience in FMCG Sales & Marketing with minimum 6 - 7 years in handling brands independently
The incumbent should be high on energy, with good people connect and a thought leader.
