Designation
Chief Operating Officer – Global Operations, reporting to the Managing Director of the firm
Key Responsibilities
This position would handle the entire gamut of global operations, specifically steel plants and manage ongoing projects focussed on coal mines and commodity trading. Responsibilities would include:
· Strategic planning to strengthen the firm’s position from a medium – long term perspective · General management responsibilities, encompassing finance, human resources, production operations, etc · Managing the cultural transformation of the firm, from an entrepreneurial mindset to a that of a private organization · Managing mining operations in South East Asia · One significant deliverable would be to establish a Greenfield port · Establishing new steel plants · Managing various functions like contracts for mining operations, investment decisions, wage negotiations; leading diverse projects such as planning, designing and implementation of material handling circuits in wet-circuit iron ore plants and railway siding projects at the mines · Annual productivity improvements through optimized management of available resources
Ideal Profile of Incumbent
· Would have ideally handled large size operations, specifically in iron ore, trading and export operations · Diverse global exposure and heightened sense of cultural sensitivities · Self driven and action oriented strategic thinker · Industry experience of around 20 years, of which, the last 5 would be in a senior management role
